Mrityunjay Kothari’s group, focuses on finite-deformation continuum mechanics and developing finite-element implementations (FEniCS/FEniCSx, Abaqus UEL/UMAT) to study thermal, transport, phase-change, and damage couplings.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or Solid Mechanics completed by start date.
  • Strong publications record in peer-reviewed journals; expertise in nonlinear continuum mechanics.
  • Proficiency in finite-element implementation (FEniCS/FEniCSx or Abaqus UEL/UMAT) with Fortran and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on mechanics of soft solids and develop theoretical and computational tools.
  • Formulate theories, build computational models, and implement in FEniCS/FEniCSx and Abaqus.
  • Prepare manuscripts for journals and present results at conferences.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and contribute to proposals.
