Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in California seeks a postdoctoral appointee in computational mechanics with a focus on solid mechanics and collaborations in fluids and heat transfer.

You will develop theory and software for constitutive modeling, regularized fracture, and multiphysics coupling, within a multidisciplinary team to support national security and energy applications. Onsite work is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computational mechanics.
• Experience in scientific computing, numerical algorithms and software development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop theory and software in computational mechanics.
• Model constitutive behavior, damage evolution and fracture.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team on high-consequence analyses.
• Publish research results in peer‑reviewed journals and reports.
