Washington State University’s Composite Materials & Engineering Center (CMEC) seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance sustainable and circular polymer materials. The successful candidate will conduct hands-on laboratory research on biobased and recycled polymer systems, collaborate with CMEC faculty and industry partners, and contribute to mentoring students and proposal development.

The appointment is 12 months, starting Jan 1, 2027, with a salary of $62,232 and ongoing renewal

Formación

• A doctoral degree in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, polymer science, materials science and engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience in organic synthesis, polymer synthesis, or related chemical/materials synthesis.
• Ability to communicate research findings effectively through written and oral presentations.

Responsabilidades

• Synthesize and develop biobased polymer materials from bio-feedstocks.
• Research chemical recycling and upcycling of plastics and composites.
• Design, fabricate, and characterize sustainable polymers for structural and non-structural applications.
