Job summary

Northeastern University's Stevenson Lab seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop and apply quantum sensors for biophysics problems. The role is in-person on the Boston campus, focusing on quantum sensing instrumentation, surface chemistry, and biophysics applications.

The position emphasizes designing experiments, hardware development, data analysis, and mentoring students within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Biophysics, or a related field.
• Experience in lab-based experiments.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze experimental data using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, perform, and analyze nanoscale magnetic resonance experiments on the group's custom-built optical microscope.
• Develop sample-integration strategies that localize biomolecules near quantum sensors.
• Build and optimize experimental hardware, including optical excitation and collection paths, microwave and RF delivery.
• Disseminate results through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations, and contribute to grant proposals and reports.
• Mentor and support graduate and undergraduate researchers and contribute to a collaborative, interdisciplinary lab culture.
