Job summary

Clemson University: College of Science, Chemistry, invites a postdoctoral researcher to join the Kolis group to develop high-temperature hydrothermal methods for growing single crystals with unusual magnetic and quantum properties. The project is NSF-funded and aims to explore new structure types and oxidation states.

Start date is flexible, with late August 2026 preferred. Appointment is one year with renewal possible based on performance and funding, located in Hunter Hall, Clemson University.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field is required.
  • Prior experience with high temperature hydrothermal single crystal growth and x-ray diffraction characterization is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute hydrothermal growth experiments to synthesize single crystals with unusual magnetic and quantum properties.
  • Characterize crystals using single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction and assist in collecting magnetic data.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to junior group members.
