Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking an experienced crystal-growth engineer to own and optimize high-temperature growth processes for oxide and garnet materials in Budd Lake, NJ.

You will lead development efforts, analyze process data, and drive improvements across Czochralski, Bridgman-Stockbarger, Float Zone, and Skull Melting methods. The role requires 9+ years in crystal growth, strong technical leadership, and the ability to translate experiments into rigorous process specifications and training

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
• At least 9 years of direct, hands-on experience in crystal growth, crystal-growth process development, or high-temperature materials manufacturing.
• Advanced working knowledge of crystal-growth process physics and parameter control.
• Familiarity with Czochralski, Bridgman-Stockbarger, Float Zone, and Skull Melting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve crystal-growth processes across all stages with a focus on quality, yield, throughput, and safety.
• Lead a development-heavy portfolio for oxide and garnet materials while supporting deployed growth methods.
• Apply advanced understanding of thermal fields and related growth parameters to control crystal quality.
• Provide technical leadership for Czochralski, Bridgman-Stockbarger, Float Zone, and Skull Melting processes and evaluate method choices.
• Plan and analyze structured process experiments and translate results into instructions and specifications.
• Investigate excursions using data and root-cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions with partner teams.
