Job summary

Ionis Pharmaceuticals in Carlsbad, CA, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Neurology Research group. The successful candidate will investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms of white matter injury and repair, developing cellular and animal models to identify targets that promote remyelination.

This role offers opportunities to publish and present findings in a multidisciplinary RNA therapeutics environment, with collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Neurobiology, Cell Biology, or related discipline with strong publication record.
• Experience in oligodendrocyte biology, myelination or developmental neuroscience is highly desirable.
• Experience with human iPSC culture/differentiation or advanced in vitro models preferred.
• Experience with transcriptomic/OMICS profiling and single-cell RNA sequencing is advantageous.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques including qPCR and RNA analysis, immunocytochemistry and microscopy is advantageous.
• Experience with rodent models, tissue processing, and histology is beneficial.
• Strong organizational and collaborative skills, with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute innovative research to investigate white matter injury and repair mechanisms.
• Develop and apply cellular and animal models to study disease biology and therapeutic hypotheses.
• Utilize OMICS approaches to identify and validate novel targets for remyelination.
• Analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental findings to multidisciplinary teams.
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at internal/external meetings.
