Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory's Monte Carlo Codes Group (XCP-3) in Los Alamos, NM, seeks an early career postdoctoral researcher to advance Monte Carlo transport methods and code development, contributing to MCNP and MCATK, and to modern software practices.

You will implement high-performance Fortran/C++/Python, perform V&V studies, run benchmarks, write documentation, and collaborate with experts in computational physics to enhance accuracy and maintainability of next-generation electron

Qualifications

• Background in Monte Carlo particle transport methods and scientific software development.
• Proficiency in Fortran and/or C++, and Python, with strong programming skills.
• Ability to communicate technically with diverse audiences and publish results.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-performance scientific software in Fortran, C/C++, and Python.
• Perform verification and validation studies for electron transport and multi-particle transport.
• Conduct software testing, benchmarking, and documentation; support CI workflows.
• Collaborate with researchers to improve accuracy, robustness, and maintainability of MCNP.
