Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM invites applications for an early-career Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Monte Carlo Codes Group (XCP-3). The role focuses on advancing MCNP/MCATK-based electron transport methods and high-performance scientific software.

Qualified candidates will have a PhD in a relevant field, strong programming skills (Fortran/C++, Python), and the ability to work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment with potential for conference presentations

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field completed within the past five years (or near completion).
• Strong background in Monte Carlo transport methods and software development (Fortran/C++ and Python).
• Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance (US Citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Develop and modernize electron transport capabilities in MCNP code.
• Perform verification and validation studies for electron transport and multi-particle transport physics.
• Develop high-performance software in Fortran, C/C++, and Python; document and test code.
• Collaborate with researchers across computational physics, nuclear engineering, and software engineering.
