Job summary

Roche Diagnostics seeks a talented Postdoctoral Fellow to advance microfluidic technologies for next-generation sequencing and molecular diagnostics. You will work in a cross-disciplinary team, gaining hands-on expertise in chemistry, materials, and device fabrication while developing automated systems for complex biochemistry workflows.

The role emphasizes interdisciplinary problem-solving, hands-on training, and collaboration with a small team to push state-of-the-art in DNA sequencing

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant discipline with a thesis focused on solving chemical or molecular biology problems via materials engineering and microfabrication.
• Solid understanding of physics, engineering, and chemistry fundamentals.
• Experience with advanced microfabrication techniques (lithography, deposition, etching, bonding).
• Experience porting biochemical assays onto novel fluidic systems and optimizing performance.
• Python scripting for instrument control.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and assemble custom devices and fixtures for microfluidic systems.
• Develop and implement advanced microfabrication processes and characterize components.
• Create and characterize new materials and bonding methods.
• Test, characterize, and troubleshoot complex fluidic systems and optimize workflows.
• Generate test plans, protocols, and invention disclosures to document findings.
• Select, procure, install, and maintain lab/fab equipment and instrumentation.
