Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Postdoctoral Appointee to advance metal additive manufacturing and process monitoring. You will design and integrate on-machine diagnostic tools, process large multimodal datasets, and link sensor outputs to physics-based models to accelerate AM adoption for critical programs.

You will collaborate across Sandia teams and external partners, publish results, and present at conferences while working onsite to support nuclear security-related

Qualifications

• PhD in materials science, mechanical engineering or related field.
• Experience with additive manufacturing technologies.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Integrate a new diagnostic tool with an existing AM machine.
• Develop correlations between machine diagnostic outputs and material properties.
• Analyze multimodal datasets to identify potential defects in AM parts in real time.
• Collaborate in diverse teams with other Sandia scientists and external partners.
• Share results through manuscripts, conferences, or presentations.
