Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico invites an energetic R&D Undergraduate Intern to join the Advanced Metals Processing team. You will participate in process development and work with laser powder bed fusion, directed energy deposition, and bound powder extrusion onsite.

Qualifications

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
  • Note: If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with process development
  • Work with technologies such as laser powder bed fusion, directed energy deposition (both powder and wire), and bound powder extrusion.
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze experimental data and contribute to project reports.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop innovative solutions for material processing challenges.
