Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Analytical Earth Science Group (EES-15) to study environmental isotopic signatures and radionuclide transport for subsurface nuclear proliferation monitoring. The role involves laboratory and field measurements, developing workflows, and integrating data with geochemical observations.

The position is for two years with possible extension, mentored by C-NR and EES-15 scientists, and requires a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• PhD in geochemistry, hydrogeology, earth science, environmental science or engineering, nuclear engineering, chemical engineering, or closely related field.
• Experience experimentally investigating reactive transport, groundwater flow and solute transport, geochemical reactions, or related coupled subsurface processes.
• Experience with isotope ratio measurements using specified instruments and sample preparation.
• Record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which normally requires U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct laboratory and field-relevant experiments to study transport and isotope signatures.
• Develop reproducible experimental and data-analysis workflows.
• Analyze environmental samples and isotope measurements; integrate with geochemical data.
• Prepare technical reports and publish findings; present at conferences and program reviews.
