Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories has an opening for a postdoctoral appointee in compound semiconductor microelectronics. You will work on molecular beam epitaxy and microfabrication to design and evaluate III-V devices, collaborating with a national security-focused team.

The role spans GaAs-based microelectronics to InP/GaSb optoelectronics, includes reporting results and interfacing with stakeholders, and requires a recent PhD with potential DOE L clearance.

Qualifications

• PhD conferred within the last 5 years in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related discipline.
• Background in the development of microelectronic or optoelectronic devices.
• Record of publication and innovation, as evidenced by peer-reviewed journals and external presentations at appropriate scientific conferences.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance.
• Excellent academic credentials; background in III-V materials.
• Experience with molecular beam epitaxy.
• Experience with simulation of microelectronic or optoelectronic heterostructures.
• Experience with fabrication or test of microelectronic or optoelectronic devices.
• Evidence of dedication to laboratory safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop device designs, translate them into epitaxial structures, and evaluate device characteristics.
• Work across III-V materials spanning phosphides to arsenide-antimonides for optoelectronic and microelectronic devices.
• Report results through publications and presentations and engage with stakeholders to meet requirements and opportunities.
