Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA seeks a Post-doctoral Research Associate to advance microwave and laser spectroscopy of large molecules, clusters, cryo-cooled ions and free radicals. The role offers hands-on experience with broadband microwave spectroscopy and photochemistry in a collaborative CRF environment.

You will work onsite with a multi-disciplinary team, present results at meetings, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemistry, physics, or a closely related field.
• Significant experience in gas-phase molecular spectroscopy, chemical dynamics, and/or mass spectrometry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated by publications or conferences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to extend cryo-cooled buffer gas cell and laser spectroscopy experiments.
• Use broadband microwave spectroscopy to obtain rotational spectra of molecules and radicals.
• Use pulsed, tunable IR and UV lasers to determine structures and initiate photochemistry.
• Analyze spectra and compare with predictions from state-of-the-art computations.
• Contribute to project goals and identify new directions.
