Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, CA seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the CUORE and CUPID experiments, researching cryogenic calorimeters, detectors, electronics, software, and system layouts for next-generation neutrinoless double-beta decay searches.

You will analyze data, develop AI algorithms to improve detector performance, mentor students, publish results, and present at meetings; the appointment is 2 years with renewal possible, requiring less than 3 years postdoc

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a relevant field within the last two years.
• Experience with AI for data analysis or denoising detector signals.
• Experience with nuclear instrumentation and radiation detection.
• Strong programming and physics data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop cryogenic calorimeters and associated electronics for next-gen neutrinoless double-beta decay.
• Create AI algorithms to improve detector performance and data analysis.
• Perform data analysis, support operations, and maintain electronics for CUORE/CUPID R&D.
• Develop analysis software and report results at conferences and meetings.
• Mentor students and present work to collaborators.
