Job summary

Iowa State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Crop Genetics and Functional Genomics in Ames, IA. The successful candidate will design and execute wet-lab experiments, analyze (epi)genomics and transcriptomic data, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.

The role requires a Doctoral degree in molecular biology/genomics/genetics and experience with plant model systems, plus a track record of first-author papers.

Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, genomics, genetics, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in plant model systems.
  • A demonstrated track record of publishing independent research, including at least one first-author peer-reviewed manuscript.
  • Experience with single-cell ATAC-seq or single-cell RNA-seq.
  • Experience growing, phenotyping, and crossing maize or other crop species, including transgenic plants.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement experiments pairing genetic alteration of cis-regulatory elements with genomic and molecular techniques.
  • Analyze next-generation sequencing bulk and single-cell data in a high-performance computing environment.
  • Mentor and supervise junior lab members.
  • Interpret results and prepare reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Prepare final drafts of research manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned.
