Successful candidates will conduct CRISPR and transgenic studies, perform molecular characterizations, and contribute to scholarly publications while mentoring students and coordinating with the PI.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize peanut regeneration via tissue culture media, growth conditions, and morphogenic regulator expression.
  • Generate transgenic and CRISPR-edited peanut lines by transformation and screening.
  • Characterize transgenic and edited peanut plants by molecular/phenotypic analyses.
  • Design guide RNAs and vectors for CRISPR genome editing.
  • Develop Agrobacterium-mediated transformation protocols.
  • Validate transgenic plants with molecular analyses and assess editing outcomes.
  • Prepare manuscripts and reports for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers; provide technical guidance.
  • Present results at meetings and conferences; share findings with diverse audiences.
  • Support laboratory operations; waste disposal and stock maintenance.
  • Order chemicals and supplies; manage buffers.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
