The University of Georgia in the Tifton Area invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate in the CAES-Horticulture program. The role centers on advancing peanut regeneration through tissue culture, transformation, and functional genomics to improve crop traits.

Successful candidates will conduct CRISPR and transgenic studies, perform molecular characterizations, and contribute to scholarly publications while mentoring students and coordinating with the PI.

Responsibilities

• Optimize peanut regeneration via tissue culture media, growth conditions, and morphogenic regulator expression.
• Generate transgenic and CRISPR-edited peanut lines by transformation and screening.
• Characterize transgenic and edited peanut plants by molecular/phenotypic analyses.
• Design guide RNAs and vectors for CRISPR genome editing.
• Develop Agrobacterium-mediated transformation protocols.
• Validate transgenic plants with molecular analyses and assess editing outcomes.
• Prepare manuscripts and reports for peer-reviewed journals.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers; provide technical guidance.
• Present results at meetings and conferences; share findings with diverse audiences.
• Support laboratory operations; waste disposal and stock maintenance.
• Order chemicals and supplies; manage buffers.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
