Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in social science, environment-related, or related field with strong focus on social dimensions of hazards.
  • Strong research skills (qualitative and/or quantitative methods).
  • Ability to independently implement data collection and analysis, and to train/direct others.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
  • Eagerness to collaborate with others.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data on environmental and social histories of Gulf Coast communities vulnerable to climate hazards.
  • Support regional watershed management and resilience planning projects.
  • Develop data collection instruments and coding frameworks; code data and perform analyses.
  • Manage data storage and produce outputs (reports, manuscripts, presentations, posters).
  • Pursue professional development opportunities including grant-writing and collaborative research.
