The University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering and the Materials Science and Engineering Program, under the joint supervision of Prof. Mija Hubler and Prof. Wil Srubar.

The position focuses on biological repair of aged concrete and interdisciplinary collaboration. The initial appointment is for 1 year with potential extension.

Qualifications

  • PhD in civil engineering, biological engineering, materials science, environmental engineering, or related field.
  • Strong lab-scale synthesis and characterization experience (SEM, XRD, XRF, DSC, TGA, FTIR, zeta potential, particle size analysis, mechanical testing).
  • Experience in statistical analysis.
  • Experience in basic microbiology techniques.
  • Experience in biopolymer science and engineering, including microbial cultivation and biopolymer characterization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments on the biological repair of aged concrete.
  • Participate in and support technology transfer to commercialization of the work.
  • Contribute to a cross-disciplinary, collaborative research team at CU Boulder.
