Trinity College’s Department of Language and Culture Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in postcolonial Francophone Studies, beginning July 1, 2027. The department offers courses in nine languages and seeks candidates with a strong record in Caribbean, North African, or Sub-Saharan African literature and culture.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in French and English.
• PhD in French and Francophone Studies required by July 1, 2027.
• Record of excellence in scholarship and teaching in postcolonial Francophone studies.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in postcolonial Francophone studies and generalist francophone literature.
• Expand course offerings in postcolonial Francophone studies.
• Teach at all levels of French language and literature; provide courses in English supporting African/Caribbean Studies.
• Participate actively in department service.
