Job summary

Fusion Academy seeks a Temporary Post-Secondary Counselor to provide 1:1 virtual counseling and guidance to students, guiding college options, applications, and financial planning. This leave-replacement role supports campus-wide efforts and collaborates with the Nationwide Post Secondary Counseling team.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in college/career readiness, an advanced counseling degree, and experience helping students explore post-secondary options across 4-year, 2-year, and vocational

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Post Secondary Counseling or related field.
  • Advanced degree in a counseling/education-related field.
  • Knowledge of college admissions processes and options.
  • Ability to support remote counseling and virtual navigation of resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dynamic 1:1 virtual post-secondary counseling to students.
  • Mentor students on college options including 4-year, 2-year, vocational, and gap year paths.
  • Utilize tools like SCOIR and YouScience to align interests with goals.
  • Read transcripts and support college applications and financial planning.
  • Support both college-bound and non-college-bound students with career prep.

Our Barnstable community is made up of educated, positive, and passionate individuals who genuinely care about their students and one another.We are seeking a Temporary Post-Secondary Counselor to join our team for an immediate leave replacement. This position begins immediately. While the exact length of the assignment is currently undetermined, it has the potential to last up to one year, offering a stable opportunity to make a deep impact on our student community.

As aPost-Secondary Counselor,you willwork 1-to-1 with students to explore their future and build strategic plans to achieve their goals after high school! Please note: Not all campuses serve grades 4 and 5, and specific details will be shared during the interview process.

WhatYou’llDo:
  • Providea dynamicvirtual 1:1 teaching and counseling experience to students via credit-bearing post-secondary preparation courses, and non-credit-bearingpost-secondary counseling enrichment packages.
  • Mentorstudents inexploring post-secondary options;4 yearcollege or university,2 yearjunior or community college, gap year, vocational and tech or trade schools, apprenticeships, military, ordirect tocareer and more!
  • Navigate andutilizecollege and career readiness tools likeSCOIR,YouSciencetoidentifystudent aptitudes, interests, abilities and link them to their future goals.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret transcripts,GPA's, and other academic records to make recommendations and provide guidance for college or university prospects.
  • Forcollegebound students; provide comprehensive support through the college application and admissions process, standardized test preparation plans, developing personal statement and supplemental essays,assistin distributing financial planning resources as needed, and more! Craft detailed counselor letters of recommendation and successfully navigate the college application materials submission process for students on your active roster
  • Communicate effectively with colleges and universities to ensure admission requirements have been met for college bound Fusion student
  • Fornon-collegeboundstudents;assistwith resume building, interview techniques, career preparation, and developing professional presence.
  • Connect and collaborate with the Nationwide Post Secondary Counseling team, supporting over 80 Fusion Academy campuses across the country and Fusion Global Academy.
WhatWe’reLooking for:
  • 3 or more years of experience in Post Secondary Counseling, College and Career Readiness, Educational Consulting, or Higher Ed and Admissions Counseling
  • Advanced Degree (MA, MS, MEd, or higher) in School Counseling, Educational Psychology, Education, Mental Health Counseling, or related field
  • Barnstable PSC'smust havecomprehensive knowledgeof the college admissions process and experience guiding students through the complex college search and admissions process.
  • Candidates will have knowledge of alternative post-secondary options such as vocational, apprenticeships, or gap year programs and be able to support students inpreparing forthe workforce or finding internship opportunities.
  • Candidatesneedto have an innate passion for nurturing andsupportadolescents. Experience with Neurodivergent Students with Learning Disabilities is a plus.
