Job summary

Inova Health in Fairfax, VA, seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Post Heart Transplant outpatient team. Five 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday, no weekends, nights, or holidays; rotating on-call duties. APP experience and transplant/cardiology background preferred.

Onsite at Inova Center for Personalized Health with 12 weeks onboarding. Responsibilities include working with a multidisciplinary team to provide outpatient care at the Post Heart Transplant Clinic and Inova

Qualifications

• Graduation from NP or PA program; VA licensure to practice.
• 1
• Prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
• BLS/ACLS/PALS with expiration >90 days from start date.
• APP experience preferred; prior transplant/cardiology experience preferred.
• Able to perform thorough history and physical exam in fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Work with multidisciplinary team in outpatient clinic at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.
• Day shift with no weekend requirement; some on-call rotation.
• Provide outpatient coverage at Inova's Post Heart Transplant Clinic at Fairfax Medical Campus.

Rotating on-call duties required. The location is at Inova Center for Personalized Health. APP experience preferred; prior transplant and/cardiology experience preferred.

Position Description

• APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care in the outpatient clinical setting at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus
• Day shift. No weekend requirement
• Some call required - Rotational – patient phone calls 24/7
• Provide outpatient coverage at Inova's Post Heart Transplant Clinic at Fairfax Medical Campus
• 12 weeks of onboarding

Position Qualifications

• Graduation for an accredited NP or PA program. Must be approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Virginia. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
• Nurse Practitioner: Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. ACNP, AGACNP certification preferred based on population served.
• Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Master's Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
• APP experience preferred; prior transplant and/cardiology experience preferred.
• Demonstrate appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills when working in a fasted paced, high acuity work environment. Able to perform a thorough history and physical assessment.
• VA License
• EPIC experience preferred

Minimum Requirements

• Certification - Basic Life Support prior to start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start
• Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances).
• Experience - No prior experience required; APP experience highly preferred.
• Education - For Nurse Practitioners: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing; For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
