Job summary

The Ohio State University Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis (CEMAS) invites applications for a Post Doctoral Scholar to investigate atomic-scale structure and defects in materials for superconducting and semiconducting qubits using advanced electron microscopy. You will perform TEM, 4D-STEM, electron ptychography, EELS, and SEM/EBSD to study thin films and interfaces at Fontana Laboratories.

Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Applied Physics, or equivalent.
• Strong background in TEM/STEM characterization.
• Experience with EELS and diffraction contrast.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and collaborative communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct TEM, 4D-STEM, electron ptychography, EELS, and SEM/EBSD to analyze structure, strain, and chemistry in superconducting and semiconducting thin films and heterostructures.
• Correlate structural and chemical features with superconducting and electronic properties.
• Develop and apply advanced data analysis workflows for large microscopy datasets.
