The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher position to work with Dr. Joshua Lothringer and collaborators on observational studies of exoplanet atmospheres. The research will include the analysis and interpretation of JWST observations of sub-Neptune and gas giant exoplanets. Part of the time may be available for independent research or new projects in related areas. The nominal start date is expected to be Summer/Fall 2027, but other dates are negotiable. The initial appointment is for two years, with renewal for a third year subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
STScI, located on Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus in Baltimore, Maryland, provides a stimulating work environment rich in colloquia, journal clubs, symposia, and learning opportunities related to the missions supported by STScI (HST, JWST, Roman). The successful applicant will benefit from the large exoplanet collaborations at STScI, JHU, and other nearby institutions.
Applicants shall hold a Ph.D. degree in Planetary Science, Astronomy, Physics, or related fields at the start of the position. Expertise in transiting exoplanet time series data analysis and/or atmospheric modeling and retrieval is desirable.
