We seek a candidate with strong research experience in subsurface imaging, data analytics, scientific computing, and computational methods for complex scientific data. A Ph.D. in Geophysics, Earth Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computational Science, or a closely related field is required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in several of the following areas: image reconstruction, inverse problems, data analytics, numerical optimization, physics-informed machine learning, statistical learning, uncertainty quantification, multimodal data integration, scientific visualization, high-performance computing, and reproducible research software.
Experience working with seismic, acoustic, borehole, geological, or other subsurface datasets is desirable. Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Julia, or similar languages; experience with modern scientific-computing environments; and strong technical communication, scholarly writing, and collaborative research skills are also preferred. Primary work location will be University of Houston, Sugar Land campus.
