Position Information

Title: Post Doctoral Fellow; EPIC
Work Unit: College of Engineering
Location: EPIC
Employment Type: Temporary – Full-time
Hours per week: 40

Responsibilities
  • Work under supervision of a faculty mentor to conduct research in advanced power electronics and electrification technologies.
  • Develop and prototype solid‑state circuit breaker and transformer hardware; perform modeling, simulation, and experimental validation.
  • Coordinate research projects related to AI‑enabled DC solid‑state circuit breakers, grid modernization, and wireless power transfer for electric rail and trolley applications.
  • Mentor graduate students and collaborators; provide technical reporting and publication preparation.
  • Engage with industry and government partners, contributing to technical and strategic collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. (or equivalent doctorate) in Electrical Engineering, or closely related field, awarded within the last eight years.
  • Strong background in power electronics and experience with experimental research.
  • Demonstrated capability in hardware prototyping, modeling/simulation and experimental validation.
  • Ability to publish research results during appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SiC/GaN devices, solid‑state circuit breakers, arc‑fault detection, solid‑state transformers.
  • Experience with medium‑voltage testing and wireless power transfer.
  • Knowledge of AI‑enabled fault detection and protection.
