The Chemistry Department at Missouri S&T invites applicants for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow. The initial appointment for the position is for one year and is renewable for an additional year based on performance. This is a Department of Defense (DoD) funded postdoctoral position in the area of organophosphate-based pesticide and nerve agent decontamination. This project would impact on addressing the challenges posed by nerve-agent and pesticide toxicity.
Your duties involve conducting research on a DoD funded postdoctoral position in the area of organophosphate-based pesticide and nerve agent decontamination. You would be involved in the design, synthesis, and multi-nuclear, high-field NMR spectroscopic evaluation of the environmentally benign and non-toxic novel decontaminating agents for mitigation of pesticide and nerve-agent toxicity. You would be expected to collaborate with the research group members of the PI and coordinate with the scientists from the Army Research Laboratories, prepare manuscripts for publication, write progress reports on the project, and prepare grant proposals. The expected outcomes of the research include publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at the regional and national ACS meetings, and develop nerve-agent/pesticide decontaminating agents for DoD and commercial applications.
