A global higher education leader in innovative teaching, research and public service, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill consistently ranks as one of the nation's top public universities and is among the top ten research universities in the U.S. Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD) hosts a Postdoctoral Research Training Program in Neurodevelopmental Disorders, funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Fellows play a vital role in the research enterprise and contribute to the intellectual vitality of the university, advancing knowledge in neurodevelopmental disorders.

Position Summary

The CIDD T32 Postdoctoral Research Training Program seeks fellows to participate in integrated training in biological and behavioral research in neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). The program emphasizes both the biological basis and clinical manifestations of NDDs, and provides mentored research training, courses, seminars, lectures and clinical experiences. The program is a two‑year training grant with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026 and an annual stipend following NIH guidelines. Fellows commit 40 hours per week to the program.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D. or comparable doctoral degree from an accredited institution, with documentation confirming completion. Eligible degrees include, but are not limited to: D.D.S., D.M.D., D.C., D.O., D.V.M., O.D., D.P.M., Sc.D., Eng.D., Dr. P.H., D.N.Sc., D.P.T., Pharm.D., N.D., D.S.W., Psy.D.

Applicants must:

• Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or lawful permanent resident; temporary or student visas are not eligible.
• Engage on a full‑time basis (at least 40 hours per week), with clinical duties contributing directly to research outcomes.

Ph.D. or M.D. (including physicians in residency training) trainees are encouraged to apply.
