Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Post-Doc Trainee within the CGIBD to join an interdisciplinary research program spanning genetics, molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, and translational studies related to liver and gastrointestinal disorders. Fellows are PhD, MD, MD/PhD or DVM holders and will work under NIH (NIDDK) T32 funding, with mentoring from leading scientists.

• Experience with mammalian cell culture, bacterial culture, mouse handling, basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques; background in computational biology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic and translational research in genetics, molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, pathophysiology and liver/gastrointestinal disorders.
• Collaborate with mentors and other postdocs; contribute to training grant goals and project outputs.
• Train in state-of-the-art techniques and advance independent research efforts.

Position Summary

Join an interdisciplinary research postdoctoral fellowship program in basic and translational aspects of genetics, molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, pathophysiology and treatment of liver and gastrointestinal tract disorders. Program goals are to attract Ph.D., M.D. and DVM postdoctoral trainees to these fields and to provide training in state-of-the-art research techniques. Fellowships are for one year, with a potential second year of support dependent on successful renewal of our competitive T32 grant renewal, and are funded by an NIH (NIDDK) Institutional Training Grant (T32). Applicants must be a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment.

Additionally, candidates must have a PhD, and/or MD degree by appointment date.
