Qualifications

• POST certification (Category III) required.
• Experience in detention, investigations, or crime scene processing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conducts regular and unscheduled head counts of prisoners.
• Responds to emergencies within the Public Safety Facility.
• Question witnesses, victims and suspects; collects and preserves evidence and maintains chain of custody.
• Conducts follow-up investigations of crimes; develops leads and analyzes evidence.
• Fingerprints, photographs, transports, and safeguards those in custody; prepares reports.
• Prepares routine reports and records (logs, reports of investigation, etc).
• Gives testimony in court and coordinates with attorney's offices and courts.
• Plans and gathers intelligence for investigations.
• Control and monitor prisoner movement to ensure security and safety.
• Intervenes in negative behavior and uses force as required following procedures.
