Qualifications

• POST certification required by hire date.
• Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
• Nevada POST Category I certification required by date of hire or within set time limits.
• Completion of POST training program or academy.

Responsibilities

• Patrol streets, parks, and neighborhoods to deter crime and enforce laws.
• Respond to calls and investigate accidents, felonies, misdemeanors, and disturbances.
• Question witnesses and suspects; collect evidence and maintain chain of custody; make arrests.
• Process custody admissions, booking reports, and release forms; transport inmates.
• Investigate vehicular accidents; summon assistance and diagram scenes.
• Prepare reports and records such as logs, investigations, and traffic reports.
• Provide testimony in court and assist attorneys with case preparation.
• Prepare affidavits and warrants; serve warrants as required.
• Engage in community policing and assist residents with safety concerns.
• Perform crowd control and interact with schools and youth on resolutions.
• Coordinate with other deputies and agencies; share information as needed.
• Maintain department equipment and facilities; participate in required training.
