Job summary

Mineral County Sheriff's Office seeks a deputy sheriff to perform patrol, investigation, and arrest duties within Nevada law and county ordinances. Works independently or with a unit, and may serve under supervision as instructed by the sheriff.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Nevada POST Category I certification required by hire date or within specified time limits.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Patrol streets, parks, and neighborhoods to preserve peace and enforce laws.
• Respond to emergencies and investigate accidents, felonies, misdemeanors, and disturbances.
• Question witnesses, suspects, drivers, and others; collect and preserve evidence; arrest offenders.
• Fingerprint, photograph, search, transport, and safeguard persons in custody; process admissions and releases.
• Investigate vehicular accidents; summon ambulances and other assistance; diagram scenes.
• Prepare a variety of reports and records (logs, investigations, affidavits, warrants).
• Provide testimony in court and coordinate with prosecutors' offices.
• Interact with schools, social agencies, juvenile probation staff, families, and youths on juvenile matters.
• Maintain departmental equipment, supplies, and facilities; participate in mandated training.
