Los Alamos National Laboratory invites a post-bachelors student with a STEM degree to join the Physical and Chemical Spectroscopy Group in the Chemistry Division for spectroscopy of molecular systems. The position is onsite in Los Alamos, NM and expected to last 1–2 years.

At term end, interns may be considered for staff positions. The role involves measuring high-resolution spectral data with FTIR, UV-Vis, and Raman instruments, analyzing data to draw conclusions, and participating in

Qualifications

• Experimental background in spectroscopy of materials (solid, liquid, or gas).
• Familiarity with spectrometer instrumentation such as FTIR, UV-Vis, and/or Raman.
• Experience with molecular spectroscopy and data analysis.
• Knowledge of Origin or Python (or equivalent) for analysis.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Outdoor work experience.
• Ability to work in a diverse team environment.

Responsibilities

• Measure high-resolution spectral data with multiple spectrometers in lab and field.
• Analyze collected data to draw scientific conclusions.
• Participate in laboratory and field validation experiments.
