Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a post-bachelors student to join the Chemistry Division's Physical and Chemical Spectroscopy Group. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining field-deployable spectroscopy systems, both liquid and gas, using pressure systems and machining tools.
You will develop LABVIEW-based programs to control equipment, collect data, and analyze results. Based in Los Alamos, NM, the position emphasizes hands-on work, data analysis, and field deployments
Qualifications
- BS degree in General Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with some work experience building systems.
- Experimental background with pressure or fluid systems; familiarity with hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain field-deployable systems (liquid and gas).
- Monitor and save relevant data; perform data analysis and prepare written reports/presentations.
- Present data and deploy systems with the team in field tests both on and off site, making small alterations as experiments progress.
