Job description

Job Description

Job Description

We are a small company that makes educational, public health, and community outreach materials located in Tappan, NY named The Education & Outreach Company. We are biased, but we are pretty sure our company is a wonderful place to work. We make coloring books, tipbooks, 3D anatomical models, and lots of other unique tools that help educate communities and save lives. Let’s be honest: saying your job is creating content for a company that makes coloring books and health education products is pretty cool.

We have a unique, hands‑on role for a creative storyteller who wants to do more than just churn out generic marketing clips. In this role, you’ll split your time between showing off our behind‑the‑scenes company culture and products, and creating compelling, educational visual content, from short-form explainer videos to polished presentations, designed for public health educators, schools, and municipal partners.

** Why this job is unique and great:**

  1. ** Meaningful, engaging content:** One day you might be filming a behind-the-scenes reel in our warehouse or showing how our products are made; the next, you’re turning complex public health topics into clear, engaging 60-second video lessons or dynamic slide decks.
  2. ** Creative freedom & real impact:** You won’t be buried under five layers of corporate bureaucracy. You will have real input in our creative direction, pitching ideas, testing new formats, and helping us figure out what resonates best.
  3. ** Room to grow:** We want the person we hire to learn in this role and grow with us as our multimedia footprint expands.
  4. ** Work-life balance is real here:** We understand that people have lives outside the office. We work hard to put processes in place so work gets done without taking over your personal life. No one who works here misses a school concert, family event, or graduation because of their job.
  5. ** Low stress, high ownership:** We aren’t big on artificial stress or frantic scrambles. We expect you to work efficiently, communicate openly, and focus on doing things right the first time.

** What we’re looking for in a teammate:**

  • ** A self-starter with a "get-it-done" attitude:** You love taking an idea from raw concept all the way through scripting, filming, editing, and publishing.
  • ** Visual storytelling & educational instinct:** You know how to take serious or technical topics (like public health, wellness, and safety) and make them visually accessible, engaging, and easy to understand.
  • ** Meticulous attention to detail:** Good audio, clean cuts, clear typography, and accurate information matter to you.
  • ** Professionalism without stuffiness:** We are casual and approachable, but we hold ourselves to high standards of reliability, punctuality, and pride in our work.
  • ** Comfort on camera or behind it:** You don't need to be a movie director, but you should be comfortable setting up simple lighting, shooting video on modern gear/phones, and occasionally narrating or directing.

** Exactly what you will be doing:**

  • ** End-to-End Video Production:** Plan, script, shoot, and edit short-form video content (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn) highlighting our products, team, and company mission.
  • ** Public Health & Educational Media:** Create visually engaging educational videos, animated graphics, and polished presentation decks (PowerPoint/Keynote/Canva) tailored for public health departments, educators, and community organizations.
  • ** Social & Digital Publishing:** Manage publishing, write catchy/informative captions, and keep an eye on what formats and topics get the best community engagement.
  • ** Asset Creation:** Design supporting graphics, video thumbnails, and simple motion graphics to enhance educational clarity.
  • ** Team Player:** Occasionally lend a hand on other projects around the office and warehouse—we are a close-knit team, and everyone pitches in when needed.

** Helpful Skills & Tools:**

  • Strong video editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut).
  • Basic motion graphics or visual design skills (Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva).
  • Proficiency building clean, modern presentation decks (PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote).
  • A solid portfolio or reel showcasing short-form video, educational content, or multimedia storytelling (student work or personal creator channels welcome!).
  • Experience with camera framing, basic studio lighting, and clear audio capture.
