Job Description

Performs a wide range of radiology exams and procedures. This position meets the scope of practice as defined by the ASRT practice standard guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities

Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic exams of various parts of the body, setting up equipment and aligning the patient to provide the best demonstration of the body part under study. Enters instructions into computers, monitors and evaluates images for accuracy and completeness of order, making necessary adjustments when required.

Evaluates radiographs for image quality and completeness.

Responds to patient’s physical and psychological needs, explaining all procedures in a clear and concise manner without causing unnecessary anxiety. Performs proper hand hygiene before and after patient contact, observes patient’s condition and reports any change to nurse or physician.

Required Qualifications
  • Vocational or Technical training in Medical Radiography required.
  • Associate’s degree in Medical Radiography preferred.
  • License MARadTech – Radiography required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required.
  • 0–1 year related work experience required.
  • New hires must obtain MA Rad Tech license by start date and provide BLS certification within 30 days.
  • New graduates may have a temporary MA Rad Tech License and ARRT eligibility within one year of graduation.
  • Advanced technical computer skills required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.

Physical Nature of the Job

Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently. Work is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing and/or moving.

Pay Range

$37.00 – $54.98 per hour. The listed range is the base hourly wage expected for this position at this time. Actual compensation depends on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, location, responsibilities, and other applicable factors. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate based on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other additional pay practices, in accordance with law.

Beth Israel Lahey Health requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
