Job description

Do you love taking on big challenges that require exceptionally creative solutions? Do you deeply understand how an incredible camera experience should work? As part of our Camera Systems group, you’ll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras.

Description

The Camera Systems Engineering Group is responsible for the systems-level analysis, design and development of new camera features and technologies for performance enhancement. The team is seeking an exceptional position sensing systems engineer with broad skills to lead product and technology development projects.

Responsibilities
  • Define position sensing system architectures, use‑case requirements, specifications, and validation criteria and document in Engineering Requirements Specifications.
  • Design and model position sensing systems behaviorally to predict performance over nominal, sensitivity, and Monte‑Carlo analyses.
  • Perform/champion sensing system engineering validation with partner teams.
  • Contribute to development, implementation, and maintenance of test and calibration codebase for sensing systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in EE, ECE, Engineering Physics, or similar and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with magnetic or optical sensing systems.
  • Experience with mixed‑signal electronics, and/or signal processing.
  • Experience with measurement science, calibration, or physical modeling.
  • Experience with Matlab or Python.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in EE, ECE, Engineering Physics, or similar.
  • Experience applying systems engineering concepts, first principles, and analysis to connect use‑case requirements to system‑level requirements to component‑level requirements.
  • Experience with documenting engineering requirements specifications.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis tools like JMP for high volume manufacturing data analysis.
  • Experience with magneto‑static simulations using Finite Element Analysis tools like ANSYS or COMSOL or similar.
  • Experience leading projects independently and collaborating, communicating with cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience implementing behavioral models of sensing system signal chains in tools like Matlab or Python or similar to interrogate performance.
