Apple is seeking an exceptional control systems engineer for the Camera Systems Engineering Group in Cupertino, CA. You will design and develop next-generation camera technology, performing systems-level analysis and modeling and developing robust control strategies for imaging across diverse use cases.

• BS degree in Physics, ME, EE, ASE, CS or Optical Engineering.

• Experience with Matlab and/or Simulink for modeling/simulation.

The Camera Systems Engineering Group develops systems, calibration, and correction procedures to maintain high image quality over a wide range of use cases and component variation. Past projects have addressed autofocus, image stabilization, position sensing, stereo imaging, special-case optimizations (low-light, high disturbance, etc), support of factory operations. The team is seeking an exceptional control systems engineer with broad skills to design and develop the next generation of camera technology.

Description

Camera control-systems engineering involves systems-level analysis and modeling of imaging and sensing systems, modeling dynamic systems, developing robust control strategies, design and construction of prototypes to guide development, definition of test procedures, and documentation of requirements and design considerations.

Responsibilities

• Measurement system prototyping, including HW, FW and SW development and automation of measurement procedures
• Work with multidisciplinary subjects related to control-systems applications in electro-mechanical devices (firmware realizations, actuators, sensors, mechanical and electrical engineering, etc)

• Management: Leading small teams to help with resource planning and prioritization; defining project deliverables and schedules to meet commitments to product development teams

Minimum Qualifications

• BS degree in Physics, ME, EE, ASE (Aero/Astro), CS, or Optical Engineering
• Experience with control systems design for electro-mechanical systems
• Experience with estimation strategies (e.g. Kalman filters)
• Experience with Matlab and/or Simulink for modeling simulation

Preferred Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Physics, ME, EE, ASE (Aero/Astro), CS, or Optical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
• Experience with leading technical projects with small to medium teams
• Experience with real-time control realizations like MCU, FPGA, RTOS, etc.
• Experience with inertial navigation sensors and/or sensor fusion
• Experience with one or more 3rd party controls instrumentation solutions (e.g. DSpace, Speedgoat, NI CRIO)
• Experience with SW development in C/C++, (i.e., version control, change review process, coding practices)

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
