Job summary

SOSi seeks a Portuguese (European) Instructor for Northern Virginia to deliver classroom language instruction to adults, plan and assess lessons, and develop curricula. The role requires strong communication with learners and clients, existing experience in ILR-based evaluation, and an ability to discuss cultural context.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s in Education or Language, at least five years of adult language teaching experience, and native or near-native Portuguese proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Language, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of recent experience in foreign language instruction for adults/university students.
• Native or near-native competency in Portuguese with ILR scores (SLR 5, TA 3).
• Competence in English written and verbal communication; standardized exam will be used during application.

Responsibilities

• Deliver language instruction to adults from ILR level 0 to 3.
• Plan, deliver, and assess lessons; develop curricula and materials.
• Provide constructive feedback and coordinate with customers on needs for student success.
• Assess learner proficiency using ILR benchmarks and maintain certifications.
• Participate in ongoing training and instructor certifications.
