Job summary

AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a Portland, Oregon shipyard to recruit skilled welders for production welding of large steel components and barges.

You will tack and fit components, read blueprints, pass weld tests in 2G–4G, and work safely with a hardworking team across multiple U.S. locations. Qualifications

• Ability to weld structural steel and become certified using 1/16” flux core wire in all positions.
• Pass weld tests including fillet welds and groove welds on 1” plate (2G, 3G, 4G).
• Strong math and measurement skills, including fractions and tape reading.
• Read blueprints and perform precise layout and fitting.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Tack and fit steel components for final welding.
• Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform production welding on heavy steel components.
• Assemble and disassemble steel components.
• Weld and fit in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Read blueprints for precise layout and fitting.
• Inspect welds for quality and spec compliance.
• Remove slag and finish welds with attention to detail.
• Troubleshoot welding equipment issues.
• Work safely and follow safety standards.
• Collaborate with a hardworking team.
