Job summary

Texas Capital is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager I to join our Credit Administration team in Houston. This role owns the underwriting process for credit requests and partners with Analysts, Associates, and Relationship Managers to assess risk and identify cross-sell opportunities.

You will monitor portfolio quality, lead deals from opportunity to close with minimal oversight, and ensure accurate reporting of credit exposure while delivering best-in-class client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commercial Banking or equivalent/relevant program.
• 3+ years’ experience in Commercial or Corporate Banking with formal Credit training.
• Exceptional writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong motivation and initiative.
• Team players who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) to produce reports, memos, and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of credit-related responsibilities for Analysts and Associates, including financial statement spreading and validation of underwriting models
• Risk rating assessment and periodic relationship reviews
• Partner with Relationship Manager in credit agreement review and negotiation
• Ownership of all credit approvals (new customers, modifications, renewals, increases, risk assessments)
• Identification of key risks and issues for each credit request and potential mitigants
• Ownership of policy exception identification
• Lead and manage portfolio reviews
• Validate covenant compliance and covenant management
• Oversee post-approval modifications for accurate reporting of credit exposure
• Client management including day-to-day needs, meetings, and site visits
• Client management in Salesforce
• Analyze macroeconomic conditions and industry trends impacting lending practices
• Portfolio reporting and analytics: grade-migration, past-dues, exceptions, coming-due maturities
• Identify cross-sell opportunities
• Coordinate with Special Assets Group for credit requests as needed
• Lead initiatives to improve delivery of credit solutions
