Job summary

Oliver James Group is supporting a Senior Portfolio Manager opportunity in Des Moines, IA, at a well-established financial institution. This is a broad, hands-on role across fixed income, derivatives, structured products, funding, liquidity and portfolio risk.

You will participate in investment decision making, trading and execution, relative value work, and risk management, with visibility to senior leadership. Relocation support is available and the position is in person.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of investment experience.
• Hands-on across fixed income, derivatives and securitized products.
• Proven trading and execution experience.
• Strong understanding of liquidity management, ALM and portfolio risk.
• Strong technical skills: SQL, advanced Excel and VBA; Bloomberg proficiency.
• CFA and/or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage in investment decision making across a broad portfolio.
• Execute trading strategies and manage execution risk.
• Identify and act on relative value opportunities.
• Monitor liquidity, ALM and portfolio risk.

Currently supporting our client on a Senior Portfolio Manager opportunity in Des Moines with a well-established financial institution.

This is a broad, hands-on seat for someone who wants exposure across fixed income, derivatives, structured products, funding, liquidity and portfolio risk rather than being tied to one specific product.

The role has a strong mix of investment decision making, trading and execution, relative value, risk management and strategic initiatives, with visibility to senior leadership.

What we're looking for:

• 7+ years of investment experience
• Strong hands-on experience across fixed income, derivatives and/or securitized products
• Proven trading and execution experience
• Strong understanding of liquidity management, ALM and portfolio risk
• Experience identifying and acting on relative value opportunities
• Comfortable working directly with broker-dealers and internal stakeholders
• Strong understanding of hedge accounting
• Strong technical skill set is a must: SQL, advanced Excel and VBA
• Bloomberg proficiency
• CFA and/or MBA preferred
• Strong communication and presentation skills

$170K-$185K base + discretionary bonus
