Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

Technology Services team is integral to maintaining the Firm's overall technology, mobile and desktop devices, and core infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure and efficient operations. Technology Services is a single global operation with representation in each of the Firm's offices. Additionally, we have shared service centers in Tampa and Manila, supporting a wide range of technologies and operations. Position Summary

The Portfolio Manager is a senior leadership role within the Technology PMO, responsible for the strategic planning, prioritization, governance, and delivery oversight of one or more technology portfolios. Serving as a trusted partner to Technology Directors, portfolio owners, business leaders, and peer Portfolio Managers, this role ensures that technology investments, programs, projects, operational initiatives align with the firm's strategic priorities.

The Portfolio Manager develops and maintains multi-year portfolio roadmaps, provides transparency into resource capacity and demand, and facilitates informed investment and prioritization decisions. The role also manages portfolio-level risks, dependencies, financial performance, and delivery outcomes while promoting alignment and coordination across technology portfolios.

In addition to portfolio oversight, the Portfolio Manager may directly lead selected high-priority or complex initiatives and provide leadership, coaching, and direction to Program Managers and Project Managers.

Duties and Accountabilities

The roles and responsibilities of this job include:

Portfolio Strategy and Planning
  • Partner with Technology Directors, portfolio owners, business stakeholders, and peer Portfolio Managers to establish portfolio priorities and delivery plans.
  • Develop and maintain multi-year portfolio roadmaps that reflect strategic objectives, planned investments, dependencies, resource requirements, and expected outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment between technology investments, firm priorities, business objectives, and portfolio capacity.
  • Support annual planning and budgeting activities by defining, evaluating, and justifying portfolio investment and resource needs.
  • Facilitate prioritization and trade-off decisions based on strategic value, risk, urgency, readiness, capacity, and available funding.
  • Maintain an integrated view of programs, projects, and operational initiatives within the assigned portfolio.
Portfolio Governance and Delivery Oversight
  • Provide portfolio-level oversight for the planning and delivery of programs, projects, and operational initiatives.
  • Guide the scoping, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of initiatives, including change control, risk management, and documentation requirements.
Resource and Capacity Management
  • Maintain clear visibility into portfolio demand, resource capacity, allocation, utilization, and anticipated constraints.
  • Partner with functional leaders and delivery managers to align available resources with approved priorities.
  • Identify resource conflicts and facilitate decisions regarding sequencing, reassignment, deferral, or escalation.
  • Support forward-looking workforce and capacity planning across the portfolio.
  • Promote effective use of shared resources across programs, projects, and technology portfolios.
Stakeholder and Cross-Portfolio Leadership
  • Translate complex delivery, financial, and resource information into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Promote coordinated planning and communication across technology functions and business areas.
  • Partner with peer Portfolio Managers to align roadmaps, address shared dependencies, and improve delivery efficiency.
  • Support the maturity and continued evolution of the Technology PMO.
  • Ensure initiatives follow established Technology PMO governance, delivery standards, and reporting expectations.
  • Monitor portfolio health, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
  • Lead regular portfolio reviews with sponsors, Technology Directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Escalate material risks, constraints, and decisions requiring leadership or governance intervention.
  • Ensure cross-portfolio dependencies and impacts are identified, communicated, and actively managed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in technology project, program, or portfolio management.
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex technology programs or portfolios involving multiple teams, business functions, and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience managing portfolio financials, resource capacity, strategic roadmaps, and executive-level reporting.
  • Formal team-leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a global professional-services environment preferred.
  • Portfolio Management Professional, Program Management Professional, Agile, or other advanced delivery certification is desirable.
Essential Job Requirements
  • Hands-on experience applying predictive, Agile, hybrid, and Waterfall delivery approaches.
  • Strong strategic planning, portfolio governance, prioritization, and roadmap development capabilities.
  • Strong executive communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Experience with enterprise portfolio, project, and work-management platforms, such as Smartsheet or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies, enterprise applications, technology infrastructure, and emerging technology trends.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed, and culturally diverse organization.
Salary Range
  • New York and Washington D.C. salary ranges for this role are $164,000 - $246,000
