Job summary

Chief Seattle Club is seeking a Property Management leader in Seattle to oversee day-to-day operations of housing properties, drive occupancy, and maintain regulatory compliance. The role coordinates with maintenance, vendors, and staff to ensure safe, well-maintained housing environments and aligned budgets.

The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of property management and affordable housing experience, a valid driver’s license, and knowledge of budgeting and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Public Administration, Property Management, or a related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in property management, affordable housing, or housing program operations, including management experience overseeing property management staff or teams.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record for 5 years.
  • Affordable housing or property management certifications such as Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), Certified Property Manager (CPM), or similar credentials preferred.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing operations, regulatory compliance, and property management practices.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation, financial monitoring, and capital planning for housing properties.
  • Ability to analyze operational reports, financial data, and property performance metrics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain organized documentation and record keeping systems.

Essential Job Functions
Property Management Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day management of Chief Seattle Club housing properties, ensuring safe, well-maintained, and compliant housing environments.
  • Monitor property performance including occupancy, leasing activity, compliance requirements, and property operations.

Collaboration & Relationship Management
  • Collaborate with internal teams including property management, housing services, and leadership to support effective housing operations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, community partners, and regulatory agencies.
Safety & Compliance
  • Actively participate in safety committee meetings, completion of trainings, ensure timely communication of safety updates, and provide leadership and support during emergencies in alignment with organizational protocols.
  • Provide oversight and support to Property Managers, including guidance on daily operations, compliance, and resident services.
  • Direct, coordinate and review the work plans for assigned staff.
  • Assign work activities and projects.
  • Review and evaluate work performance, methods, and procedures, and meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
  • Comply with agency performance evaluation policy and conduct evaluations regularly and on time.
Non-Essential Job Functions
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, housing conferences, and training related to property management and affordable housing.
  • Perform other duties as situation requires or as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Public Administration, Property Management, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in property management, affordable housing, or housing program operations, including management experience overseeing property management staff or teams.
Licenses/Certifications

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Portfolio managers at a non-profit serving native populations in supportive housing work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. The role frequently involves both office-based tasks and onsite visits to housing properties, engaging with residents, staff, and community partners. The atmosphere is collaborative and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity, respect, and inclusivity. Managers must navigate complex challenges, balancing administrative duties with direct community interaction, all while supporting the organization’s goal of providing safe and stable housing.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during site visits and meetings.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or supplies up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment, requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Ability to travel between multiple housing properties as needed.
  • Comfort working indoors and outdoors, sometimes in varying weather conditions.
  • Most positions at CSC are exposed to members of the community who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma.
