Job summary

Ares Management is seeking an Associate for its Portfolio Management Team in New York/Connecticut. You will support risk oversight, performance analysis, and portfolio construction across global secondaries, partnering with senior leaders and external stakeholders.

Role offers meaningful responsibility, broad exposure across the investment lifecycle, and cross-functional collaboration with IR, Product Management, and investment teams.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication for senior/external audiences.
• Solid foundation in financial analysis, accounting, and modeling.
• Demonstrated analytical and quantitative aptitude.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Python or analytical programming is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• Prior experience in investment banking, private equity, asset management, or consulting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ongoing portfolio monitoring for secondaries investments across asset classes.
• Analyze exposures, pacing, and return attribution; escalate key themes to leadership.
• Develop models to evaluate investments and portfolio construction implications.
• Support investment committee discussions and transaction reviews.
• Assist in strategy discussions and portfolio updates with stakeholders.
• Prepare portfolio analyses and investor reporting with IR and PMT teams.
