One River School of Art + Design in Woodbury, NY seeks a Part-time Art Teacher to guide student portfolio development and studio practice. You will teach weekly, mentor students, and collaborate with practicing artists in a creative community.

This role offers 3–10 hours weekly with afternoon/evening sessions. The hourly rate ranges from $25 to $30, commensurate with experience. We value a student-first mindset and a strong commitment to art history and contemporary practice.

Formación

• BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design (Master's a plus) or equivalent professional experience.
• High School art teacher experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of professional portfolio development.
• 5+ years experience teaching visual arts; digital art skills a plus.
• Track record of high-quality instruction, classroom management, and student progress.
• Clear communicator, organized, energized by a busy studio environment.

What you’ll do:

Teach Art and Portfolio Developmnet: Teach weekly museum quality art and portfolio developmentusing a wide variety of media

Ensure Student Success: Ensure student success in the studio and lab by actively engaging with students and teachers to observe, document and communicate their progress and opportunities for growth

Implement One River Methodology Curriculum: Implement the One River Method through each class effectively. All teachers have the opportunity to contribute to lesson plan development and are paid extra for doing so

Run a best-in-class studio: Clean and organize studio spaces and student artwork

Student Exhibitions: Direct your students to produce high quality work for their exhibitions. Keep track of their progress to ensure the exhibition work is completed on time for each show.

Requirements:

• BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design (Master's a plus) or equivalent professional experience

• Strong understanding of professional portfolio development

Schedule & Compensation:

This is a Part time Position ranging from 3 - 10 hours weekly, withafternoon and evening hours on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Hourly rate: $25.00-$30.00 per hour commensurate with experience
