One River School of Art + Design in Woodbury, NY is seeking a part-time art teacher to mentor students in portfolio development and studio practice.

You will teach across media, support student growth, contribute to lesson planning, and help maintain a thriving studio environment with exhibitions.

Formación

• BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years experience teaching visual arts; digital art skills a plus.
• Strong portfolio development understanding and class management.
• Clear communicator, organized, energized by a busy studio.

• Implement One River Methodology Curriculum and contribute to lesson plans.

What you’ll do:

Teach Art and Portfolio Developmnet: Teach weekly museum quality art and portfolio developmentusing a wide variety of media

Ensure Student Success: Ensure student success in the studio and lab by actively engaging with students and teachers to observe, document and communicate their progress and opportunities for growth

Implement One River Methodology Curriculum: Implement the One River Method through each class effectively. All teachers have the opportunity to contribute to lesson plan development and are paid extra for doing so

Run a best-in-class studio: Clean and organize studio spaces and student artwork

Student Exhibitions: Direct your students to produce high quality work for their exhibitions. Keep track of their progress to ensure the exhibition work is completed on time for each show.

Requirements:

• BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design (Master’s a plus) or equivalent professional experience
• High School artteacher experience preferred
• Strong understanding of professional portfolio development
• 5+ years experience teaching visual arts. Digital art skills are a plus.
• Track record of high-quality instruction, classroom management, and student progress.
• Clear communicator, organized, and energized by a busy studio environment
• Passion for art history, contemporary art and a “students-first” mindset

Schedule & Compensation:

This is a Part time Position ranging from 3 - 10 hours weekly, withafternoon and evening hours on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Hourly rate: $25.00-$30.00 per hour commensurate with experience
