Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Portfolio Controller to own cash management, internal controls, and close processes for a high-growth SaaS client. You will lead treasury, debt management, and intercompany activities while guiding a small accounting team.

Required CPA/CA, 5+ years progressive accounting, and IFRS expertise. Remote work options available for Calgary, with flexibility in Toronto and Montreal.

Qualifications

• CPA/CA or equivalent credential.
• Experience in SaaS/software environments is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and complex accounting.
• Ability to own end-to-end accounting processes and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close deliverables, including cash flow statements.
• Lead treasury activities: cash requirements, banking, cash visibility.
• Oversee debt management, working capital planning, and dividend payments.
• Coordinate transfer pricing, tax support, and compliance deadlines with external advisors.
• Provide accounting leadership on IFRS 15/16/3 and consolidations.
• Lead intercompany reconciliations and recharges, fix discrepancies, improve consistency.
• Strengthen internal controls and support clean audits.
• Support acquisition integration including PPA and policy alignment.
• Manage and develop a small accounting team and partner with business leaders on financial risks and improvements.

About the Company

Our client is a high growth software company. They are looking for a Portfolio Controller who will be responsible for owning the cash management process, ensuring robust internal controls and clean audit outcomes, while actively partnering with other department teams to raise reporting quality without becoming a bottleneck in day-to-day operations.

About the Opportunity

• Own the preparation and review of month-end, quarter-end and year-end close deliverables, including the statement of cash flows and dividend declarations.


• Lead treasury activities, including monthly cash requirements reporting, banking administration and maintaining accurate cash visibility.


• Oversee debt management, working capital planning and coordination of dividend payments.


• Coordinate transfer pricing arrangements, corporate tax support and compliance deadlines, engaging external advisors as required.


• Provide technical accounting leadership on IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IFRS 3, consolidations and other complex accounting matters.


• Lead intercompany reconciliations and recharges, resolve complex discrepancies and improve consistency across entities.


• Strengthen internal controls, identify financial risks, address control gaps and support clean audit outcomes.


• Support acquisition integration through step plan adherence, revenue recognition checklists, PPA model review and alignment with accounting policies and controls.


• Manage and develop a small accounting team, delegate responsibilities and remain accountable for the accuracy and quality of its work.


• Partner with cross-functional business leaders to align priorities, address financial risks and advance process improvements and broader finance initiatives.

About You

• CPA/CA or equivalent.


• SaaS/software and multi-entity experience.


• A minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.


• Strong IFRS knowledge.


• Ability to own full-cycle accounting and reporting, review financial information, and communicate financial conclusions confidently.

Salary Range

$120,000 - $140,000/year
