Job description

Join to apply for the Portfolio Analyst role at New York City Housing Development Corporation.

The Portfolio Analysis team is tasked with monitoring the performance of housing developments within HDC’s portfolio, analyzing financial and physical conditions, and providing solutions for underperforming properties. This role reports to the Assistant Vice President of Portfolio Analysis.

Position Summary

The Portfolio Analysis team is responsible for actively monitoring housing developments within the HDC Asset Management portfolio, analyzing financial and physical conditions, and proposing solutions for underperforming properties. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Portfolio Analysis.

Full Time / Exempt

Salary Range:

$68,000 to $74,000 annually

Location:

NYC / Financial District

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with project owners, managing agents, and government agencies.
  • Review and analyze financial statements and physical inspection reports.
  • Coordinate physical inspections with HDC Engineers and follow up as needed.
  • Monitor financial issues such as mortgage delinquencies and take appropriate action.
  • Assess portfolio performance and assist in designing workout strategies for delinquent properties.
  • Review requests for withdrawals from project reserve accounts.
  • Coordinate approval processes for ownership changes and managing agents.
  • Enforce regulatory obligations through legal document review.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, accounting, or business administration with relevant coursework.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in real estate lending or development, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and proficiency in mortgage loan modeling.
  • Interest in the affordable housing industry.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheet and database management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local affordable housing programs and development processes.
